Dion's was born from a simple dream: to bring the warmth of homemade pizza to the heart of Las Cruces. In 1978, founder Dion Bustamante opened our first location with a wood-fired oven, a handful of fresh ingredients, and a recipe passed down through generations.

From humble beginnings to becoming a Las Cruces institution, here are the milestones that shaped who we are today.

1978

The First Slice

Dion Bustamante opens the very first Dion's location on Lohman Avenue with a wood-fired oven, a handwritten menu, and the determination to make Las Cruces' best pizza.

1985

Community Recognition

Dion's wins the Las Cruces "Best Pizza" award for the first time — an honor we've continued to hold for over 25 of the past 40 years. Community trust becomes our greatest asset.

1993

Expanding the Menu

We introduced our now-legendary Subs & Salads menu, bringing fresh handcrafted sandwiches and garden-fresh salads to complement our classic pizzas. The response was overwhelming.

2002

Catering & Events Launch

Responding to customer demand, Dion's officially launches its catering division, bringing our fresh flavors to weddings, corporate events, school fundraisers, and community gatherings across New Mexico.

2010

Going Green

Dion's commits to sustainability — partnering with local New Mexico farms, switching to compostable packaging, and implementing a full kitchen composting program to reduce waste by 40%.

2018

40th Anniversary & Digital Growth

Celebrating 40 years of pizza perfection, we launch online ordering and a revamped loyalty rewards program — making it easier than ever for our customers to enjoy Dion's on their terms.

Marco Bustamante

Son of founder Dion, Marco has been crafting pizzas since he was 12. With 30+ years in the kitchen, his passion for authentic recipes and bold New Mexican flavors is legendary.

Operations Manager

Sofia Reyes

Sofia joined Dion's in 2010 and has since built our operations from the ground up. Her meticulous attention to consistency ensures every customer gets the same great experience, every time.

Catering Director

Carlos Mendez

With a background in event hospitality, Carlos leads our catering division with military precision and creative flair. He's delivered Dion's magic to over 1,000 events across New Mexico.
